Regular medical checkups and controls aren’t enough to protect you from cancer. It’s much more important to know your body well, to monitor the changes and notice if there’s something out of the ordinary so that you can react in time. Prevention is the best cure we all know that but it’s also true that early detection is crucial, especially when it comes to cancer. Here are the most common symptoms you should be on the lookout for:
- Wheezing or shortness of breath
This is always reported as one of the first symptoms lung cancer patients notice. The inability to catch their breath but it’s usually overlooked as nothing important, which is a big mistake.
- Chronic cough or chest pain
Bronchitis and chronic coughing can often be a symptom of lung tumors and leukemia. Some people who suffer from lung cancer often report chest pain that actually extends down the arm and up into their shoulders.
- Frequent fevers or infections
If you experience frequent fevers or infections it may be a symptom of leukemia. Leukemia causes the marrow to produce abnormal white blood cells, reducing your body’s infection-fighting capabilities.
- Difficulty swallowing
It’s usually one of the first symptoms of lung cancer and it can be also related with throat cancer and esophageal.
- Swollen lymph nodes or lumps on the neck, underarm, or groin
If you notice some changes in the lymphatic system, like swollen lymph nodes or lumps it can be a sigh of cancer.
- Excessive bruising or bleeding that doesn’t stop
Having a mysterious bruise once in a while is not a thing to worry about, it may be because you bumped into something. But if you notice bruises frequently, especially in some strange places like fingers or hands then it is a sign to worry. Unusual or easy bruising could be a sing of leukemia.
- Weakness and fatigue
Feeling fatigued and tired can be a symptom of so many diseases that you need to take a look at some other symptoms as well just to be sure and not jump into conclusions. But if you often feel tired without any particular reason you should consult with your doctor and see why.
- Bloating or abdominal weight gain
Bloating is common among women, especially during that time of the month. You should be worried if you feel bloated or constipated even after your cycle has finished. It can be a sign of uterine or ovarian cancer. You should consult a doctor if it continues for a few weeks.
- Feeling full and unable to eat
This is another common symptom of ovarian cancer. Many women report feeling full and losing their appetite even when they haven’t eaten the whole day.
