In fact, the designers of the popular pen called Cristal Pen is produced by the company BIC, made a small hole on top of the cap, and this innovation was supported by all other major producers of pens.
Many people do not pay attention to this innovation. However, this quite small change in design saves hundreds of children’s as well as adults’ lives every year
How is this possible?
We know that young children often put various objects in their mouths, so if they find a pen cap, they can put it in the mouth as well. Adults on the other hand, often chew the tip of the pen when they want to concentrate or are nervous.
If the cap is swallowed it can cause choking, because the air cannot pass through.
In such situations the hole allows the child or adult to get enough air to be able to survive until the emergency arrives.
