Plastic Bottles Are Poisoning Us: This Is What The Sign At The Bottom Means!
If for any reason you don’t drink or don’t like tap water and you go buy bottled water, look at the triangle and the number written in the middle. You may learn some shocking things. Even though people are interested in the water composition, they ignore the chemical composition of the packaging. Look for the triangle with the number in the middle at the bottom of every packaging and find out how dangerous the plastic you are holding is.
1 – PET (often PETE)
Most of these bottles are intended for single use. There is possibility a that they that emit heavy metal antimony, a chemical substance EPA, which interferes with the action of hormones. Also they can be cancinogenic.
2 – HDP (sometimes HDPE)
This is called the “good” plastic because it has the lowest probability that will emit chemicals in the water.
3 – PVC (sometimes 3V)
This plastic emits 2 toxic chemicals and both influence the hormones in the human body. This is the most commonly used plastic.
4 – LDPE
Even though this plastic doesn’t emit chemicals in the water, it is most commonly used for making plastic bags instead of water bottles.
5 – PP
One of the “good” plastics is usually transparent or white. It is used for bottles for yogurt and syrup cups.
6 – PS
It emits carcinogenic STIREN. Usually it is used for fast food packaging or coffee cups.
7 – PC (or no labeling)
This is the worst plastic for food products because it emits chemical BPA. Unfortunately it is used for sports bottles, containers for food storage and bottles for infants.
It seems that plastics 2, 4 and 5 or the ones with label HDP, HDPE and PP don’t emit any amount of chemicals. The worst packagings are labeled 1, 3, 6 or 7. In this bottles the water is under temperature and chemical activity and it is exposed to bacterial pollution, in a case of extra filling.
