6 Ways To Use Banana Peels To Fight Acne Naturally

February 8, 2019 by Valerie Kirwin

Skin care often requires a lot of time and money, especially if you’re using expensive cosmetic products or visit your beautician regularly. However, some natural ingredients can provide amazing effects when it comes to keeping your skin smooth and acne-free.

According to the Canadian Dermatology Association, acne normally appear when “hair follicles become clogged by a combination of an oily substance (produced by the skin) called sebum, dirt, and dead skin cells.”

Clogged pores make the skin inflamed and swollen. Sometimes, discharge is excreted by the acne.

Even though most people believe that acne occur as a result of bacteria, the truth is bacteria only make the condition worse.

6 Ways To Use Banana Peels To Fight Acne Naturally

The Miracle of Banana Peel

Banana peels normally end in the trash bin as they are the inedible part of this tropical fruit. However, they are packed with vitamins – A, B, C, E, as well as minerals – potassium, zinc, iron, and manganese. These nutrients are highly beneficial for soothing inflamed skin and preventing acne outbreaks. Plus, banana skin is abundant in antioxidants that prevent aging and cell damage.

In addition, the texture of the peel is a great exfoliator that effectively removes dirt and oil from your pores thus fighting the root cause of acne breakout. The peel also provides antiseptic effects thus killing bacteria before and after a pimple occurs.

It’s important that you do the banana peel treatments after you’ve thoroughly cleaned your face of makeup, oil and dirt. Ripe banana peel provides the best results.

1# Simply Banana Peel

This is the easiest method of all. Take a banana peel and slice it nicely. Don’t forget to wash your face thoroughly before the treatment.

Take a piece of the peel and massage your skin gently in a circular motion.

When the peel turns burns, take another fresh piece.

Do this for 10 minutes.

Don’t wash your face immediately after the treatment. In fact, if you aren’t time-bound, leave the banana peel residues on till the end of the day.

Do the treatment on a regular daily basis until you see improvements.

2# Banana Peel with Oats

Oats combined with a banana peel make a great natural exfoliant. However, if you’re using this treatment, make sure you don’t rub too hard as you may irritate your skin.

To make this effective exfoliant, blend together 1 banana peel (without the stem), 1/2 cup of cooked oatmeal, and 3 tbsp. raw sugar. Add some water if necessary to make a paste.

Apply the paste on your skin massaging gently. Leave it on for 10 minutes.

Wash it off with warm water, pat dry and apply some coconut oil.

Do the treatment on a regular daily basis.

3# Banana Peel Turmeric Scrub

What makes this treatment extremely beneficial is the strong antibacterial properties of turmeric which reduce the appearance of acne and improve your skin quality. Plus, it does wonders for skin redness and overall irritation caused by acne.

Use a blender to make a thick paste of the peel.

Use equal parts of the mashed peel and powdered turmeric. Mix together adding a bit of water to create a fine paste.

Apply the paste directly on the acne leaving it to act for 15 minutes.

Wash off and pat dry. Apply a bit of coconut oil.

Repeat the treatment daily.

4# Banana Peel and Lemon

Lemons are rich in natural acidity which is extremely effective in killing acne-causing bacteria, brightening your skin, and evening your skin tone. Plus, lemons can speed up healing of scars and reduce their appearance.

As with the previous treatments, make a paste from the peel.

Using a fork, mix the paste and fresh lemon juice in equal ratio.

With clean hands, apply the paste gently onto your skin. Leave it on for 15 minutes.

Wash off with warm water and pat dry.

Do the treatment once a day.

5# Banana Peel with Baking Soda

Baking soda is easily absorbed into your skin pores from where it removes dirt and oil. Plus, it balances your skin pH level and eliminates dead skin.

Blend a banana peel with a bit of water to create a paste.

Mix 1 tbsp. banana peel paste with ½ tbsp. baking soda.

Make a paste, adding more water if necessary.

Massage the paste into your skin gently. Leave it on for 2 minutes.

Rinse off then use a clean towel to gently dry your face.

Finish with applying some coconut or olive oil onto your skin.

Do the treatment once a day.

6# Banana Peel with Honey

Last, but not least, honey is one of the most beneficial natural ingredients for skin care. It provides both anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and it sooths irritated skin. Honey also helps wounds heal faster and reduces the appearance of scars.

Mix 1 tbsp. banana peel paste with ½ tbsp. raw honey.

Apply this on your face massaging in a circular motion.

Let it act for 15 minutes.

Wash off, pat dry then apply your favorite natural moisturizer.

Repeat on a regular daily basis.
