8 Natural Remedies for Arthritis in Hands

The moment when joint cartilage wears away is when Arthritis occurs. With arthritis occurring the bones start rubbing against each other, and yes it is very painful, even more than you would imagine.

The fact that arthritis is a very dangerous disease is proven with fact that around 27 million Americans suffer from arthritis. Since osteoarthritis is disabling and painful, very common, and many “cures” often come out of nowhere. The “cures” range from shark cartilage, copper jewelry to snake venom.   1. Fenugreek Seeds Can Help You in Inflammation Treatment

Researches have shown that fenugreek’s antioxidant and anti – inflammatory effects can reduce the arthritis pain within few months. Fenugreek is also known as methi. In water put one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds and let them stand still overnight. The very next morning eat the seeds and throw away the water. You should repeat this procedure for a few months, in order to feel fenugreek seeds’ health benefits.

  1. Castor Has Many Health Benefits And Healing Powers

Ricinoleic acid which can be found in castor has analgesic and anti – inflammatory properties that can relieve pain caused by arthritis. Massage the painful area with castor oil twice a day, in order to reduce the pain.

There is also another way – boil 2 tablespoons of castor oil and add it in a freshly squeezed orange juice. Consume this mixture for 2 weeks in a row early in the morning on an empty stomach. You will feel improvement in your condition, after those 2 weeks. Caution: Do not drink too often and too much castor oil because it also acts as a laxative.

  1. Epsom Salt is Known For its Relaxing Powers

It can relieve any arthritis related inflammation, stiffness or pain. This salt is great for the bones because it is rich in magnesium. You can relieve your pain if you follow these instructions: in bath – warm water mix 2 cups of this salt. Next thing to do is soaking your hands in this water, and keep them soaked for 20 minutes to ½ an hour. Repeat this procedure 2 to 3 times a week for a month or until you feel better.

  1. Turmeric

Turmeric is yet another natural remedy for arthritis pain because it has antibacterial, antioxidant, anti – inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Add a little bit of honey and 1 teaspoon of turmeric in a glass of warm milk.

Consume this mixture as soon as you prepare it. You can do it with water, if you do not like milk. Here is the procedure – in 1 kilogram of water add 1 tablespoon of turmeric and boil the water for 10 minutes. Drink this liquid after it cools down. Do this process on a daily basis.

  1. Olive Oil Has a Compound Called Oleocanthal

This compound prevents the production of the pro – inflammatory enzymes called  COX – 1 and COX – 2. Consuming olive oil through food can reduce the risk of getting rheumatoid arthritis.

It can also be used as massage oil. Add a few drops of lavender oil into warm olive oil and gently massage the affected area, in order to the reduce pain in the painful area(s). Inflammation and discomfort will be drastically reduced if the massages are conducted with gentle moves and last longer.

  1. Ice packs

The reactions of this way of treatment are different in different people. All you need is an frozen vegetable, plastic bag filled with crushed ice or ice pack. This technique is great for those who have hand arthritis. Apply the ice on the affected area and hold it pressed for about 20 minutes. Repeat this procedure 2 – 3 times a day. In order to prevent frostbites put a thin towel between the ice pack and the skin.

  1. Honey And Cinnamon – Both Of These Ingredients Have Healing Power

If they are in a form of a powder, they are more effective. The facts that cinnamon is great anti – inflammatory and antioxidant and honey has great antiseptic qualities proves the theory that these 2 can help you with your symptoms.

When you combine cinnamon and honey you will have an extraordinary way of relaxing stiff muscles and treating arthritis in hands. Mix 1 tablespoon of honey with 1.5 teaspoons of cinnamon. It is recommended in order to make you feel better, to consume this mixture for a few weeks continuously early in the morning on an empty stomach.8 Natural Remedies for Arthritis in Hands

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Same as the above natural foods, ACV will make you feel better and will also reduce the pain caused by arthritis. All you need to do is drink a mixture of little bit of honey with 1 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar  in a glass of warm water.

You can also mix one cup of warm apple cider vinegar with 1.5 teaspoons of cayenne pepper and soak your joints in it. After 15 minutes, rinse the liquid off of your joints. Repeat this procedure until you see an improvement or feel better.

You must consult your doctor first, before you start using any of the above mentioned treatments. On the other hand, exercises and physical therapies will help you move your joints better.
