When you are preparing eggs at home, what do you do with the shells? If you throw them in the trash, then you can lose the opportunity to improve your health.

Egg shells contain 90% calcium which is really necessary for the body.

Calcium is not only necessary to have healthy bones, but nerves, muscles …as well.  Chemically speaking, calcium which is found in the egg shells is the same calcium from which your bones and teeth are made.

According to several studies conveyed in the US National Institutes of Health, the powder made from the egg shells is easily absorbed in the body and provides numerous health benefits as it strengthens the bones, lowers the cholesterol level and reduces blood pressure.

Half a tablespoon of powder made from egg shells contains about 1.000 to 1.500mg calcium which is 90% of the recommended daily intake for an adult.

There is a simple way you can use the shells:

  1. If the shells are not previously boiled, boil them for about 10 minutes to kill the harmful bacteria.
  2. Then let them cool and crush them until you get fresh powder.
  3. Keep the powder in the previously sterilized jar.

You can use it as a dietary supplement in cereals or smoothies.
