Ben & Jerry’s have publicly revealed that they have marketed their ice cream to the weed crowd for years. With flavor names like Hazed & Confused, Cherry Garcia, and Half-Baked it is obvious that the founders of the ice cream behemoth – Jerry Greenfield and Ben Cohen – are not virgins to the cannabis culture. It now appears those flavor names could take on a new literal meaning.
Ben & Jerry, speaking with HuffPost Live, said that they are very open to the idea of creating and selling a cannabis-infused ice cream, but when it is completely legal to do so.
Cohen said bluntly: “Makes sense to me, combine your pleasures.”
Greenfield appeared a bit more apprehensive but was still open to the idea.
He said: “Ben and I have had previous experiences with substances, and I think legalizing marijuana is a wonderful thing. It’s not my decision. If it were my decision, I’d be doing it, but fortunately we have wiser heads at the company that figure those things out.”
An ice cream manufacturer based in Richmond, California Cannabis Creamery, already makes a marijuana-infused ice cream for medicinal cannabis prescription holders.
