If there’s anything you can’t imagine hot summer days without, then it’s watermelon. Nothing quenches thirst and refreshes the body like a nice piece of watermelon.
Most people enjoy thus super food in its classic crescent shape. However, as you already know, cutting watermelon in this way comes with a lot of mess.
You can also opt for watermelon cubes or little skewers, but this is both time-consuming and unsafe for young children.
Plus, the watermelon is high in water, which makes your picnic table or porch an oasis for summer pests like ants, flies, wasps, and other bugs.
The video below will teach you how to cut a watermelon without soaking everything around in watermelon juice.
As you can see, you start by washing the watermelon thoroughly. This means you should remove any dried-on dirt. Then, you cut the watermelon in half placing one piece face-down on your cutting board. Continue by slicing it straight across into several equal pieces. Now, turn the melon 90 degrees to the left or right and cut again as if creating a grid. Do the same with the other half.
Arrange the watermelon pieces on a serving plate. Bon appetite!
