Good night sleep is very important for overall health. It can help in protecting your mental and physical health and also in having a good quality of life. Good night sleep also supports proper brain function and keeps physical health. It also supports growth and development in children and teens. Chronic sleep deprivation can lead to some serious health problems. It can also affect people’s ability to react, think, work, learn and communicate. More than 50 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep deprivation or poor sleep according to the Institute of Medicine in America.

If you have problems with sleeping you must try this homemade Banana-Cinnamon drink, which is consumed one hour before going to bed!

Why Bananas?

Banana is highly effective against insomnia as it is rich in amino acid known as tryptophan which raises serotonin levels that are proven to regulate sleep patterns. It will also improve mood and control your appetite. Banana is  rich in potassium, iron and calcium, minerals which  help with insomnia as well.

Why Cinnamon?

Cinnamon is  extremely beneficial as it is rich in essential oils as eugenol, phenylpropanoids which are chemical compounds and are responsible for cinnamon’s sweet and aromatic scent. Cinnamon is the perfect ingredient for this recipe as will improve its taste and will  help your body to relax. It also improves blood circulation and digestion which can affect your sleep.

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 liter of water
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon

Directions:

Find a small pot and boil the water. After that cut the banana’s ends and add it into the boiling water. Boil the mixture for 10 minutes. Strain the mixture in a tea cup. For better taste add a pinch of cinnamon. This beverage should be consumed an hour before going to bed.

But if you still continue to have problems with sleeping than you may have some serious problems as: anxiety, unhealthy diet, mineral deficiencies and your life style. Some sleeping pills may help sometimes but they will not solve the actual problem. That is why you should try to eat healthy food, reduce anxiety, exercise more and try different techniques which will help your brain and body to relax.
