Experts warn that our bed contains millions of tiny organisms that can harm our health. The mattresses and pillows with time become repositories for dead human skin which then collects mites and other bacteria.
– People on average lose about 45 g skin, and most of it ends up right in bed which is an ideal place for breeding of dust mites. The warmth of the bed in touch with your body allows easy development. Studies have shown that there are more than 10 million per bed – explains Dr. Lisa Eckerly, an expert on domestic hygiene.
According to her words, the biggest mistake is when we leave the windows closed when we go out. Thus, the entire moisture, dust mites and fungi remain inside.
– Are you making your bed every morning before going to work? – Big mistake. Or even worse when we cover the bed while it is still warm, we give the mites an unforgettable entertainment – says Dr. Lisa.
According to the findings of the experts, 80% of asthmatics may prescribe their illness to dust mites.
They can cause allergic rhinitis, cough, causing dryness of the body and eyes. They are one of the main causes of poor sleep – said Dr. Lisa.
To avoid the development of the disease, and not to buy new mattresses, pillows and other bedding every two years, the doctor recommends regular vacuum cleaning with shaking.
– It would be good not to have a carpet under the bed because it just exacerbates the situation. Regularly ventilate the room as fresh air expels dust mites – she says.
The bedding is necessary to be washed at least 60 degrees, and with some detergents that contain disinfectants – concludes Dr. Lisa Eckerly.
