It may sound unbelievable but it seems that NASA’s latest discoveries have brought about some new information regarding the Bible’s stories, finally confirming that everything written in the Bible is actually true! A consultant in the space program, Mr. Harold Hill, who actually is the President of the Curtis engine Company in Baltimore, said himself: “One of the most amazing things that God has for us today happened recently to our astronauts and space scientists at Green Belt, Maryland”.
Here’s what actually happened. The scientists were examining the positions of the Sun, the Moon and the planets and how their position will change in the future 100 and 1000 years, something that’s done quite regularly. This is necessary so that our satellites can be adjusted properly not to interfere with the orbits of the planets. The scientists need to conduct this task in time so that they’ll have enough time to adjust their course. However, during their routine computer calculations a red signal interrupted everything, they needed to stop working and determine if there’s something wrong with the data or the results.
After thorough research from the service department, it was determined that somewhere in space a day was missing in elapsed time! All the scientists were perplexed by the problem, unable to see a solution to why this happened, it was just unsolvable! Until one Christian explained them that in Sunday school they were taught about the Sun standing still. As they were all men of science, no one believed his story and tried to find another explanation until the man opened the book of Joshua from the Bible and showed them the story that made everything make sense. They read the passage when God said to Joshua: “Fear them not, I have delivered them into thy hand; there shall not be a man of them stand before thee.” (Joshua 10:8).
According to the story, Joshua was worried because he was surrounded by the enemy, and if darkness fell, he’d be conquered. So Joshua asked the Lord to make the sun stand still! “And the sun stood still and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is this not written in the book of Ja’-sher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven and hastened not to go down about a whole day.” (Joshua 10:13). Everything was clear; they concluded that this was their missing day. After examining the calculations once more, they discovered that the exact missing time was not actually 24 hours but 23 hours and 20 minutes, which is 40 minutes short of an entire day – not the exact period as in the book of Joshua.
They turned to the Bible once more, to see if there’s something they missed. They noticed that the exact words in the Bible were “about a day” and even though the Bible was right there were still 40 minutes unaccounted for. This was a big problem, because if they couldn’t figure it out, they can run into some serious problems 1000 years from now. Just when they thought everything was in vain, the Christian remembered something else which said that the Sun went backwards. No one believed again, but then they opened the Bible and were proved wrong.
The story which accounted for the missing 40 minutes was about Hezekiah. He was visited on his deathbed by Isaiah the prophet, who told him that it’s not his time yet. Hezekiah asked for a sign, and Isaiah asked if the Sun would go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? Hezekiah answered: “It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees; nay, but let the shadow return backwards ten degrees.”
“And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the Lord, and He brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.” The 10 degrees mentioned in the story are equal to 40 minutes! The 23 hours and 20 minutes from Joshua and the 10 degrees (40 minutes) in the 2 kings accounted for the missing 24 hours. The scientists finally had their answer and they found it in the place they least expected it to be!
