Tangerines are one of the favorite tropical fruits, but their peel mostly ends up in the bin, which is a big mistake (of course, if you are sure it is not treated with chemicals).
If you are troubled by a sore throat and cough, grind 50 grams of tangerine peel and store it in a glass jar. Over the grinded peel pour a cup of vodka or 40% alcohol.
Close the jar and leave it for one week in a dark place and then consume as follows: one spoon after the meal, with a spoonful of honey.
Tangerine peel can be also used as something really delicious – candied peels!
Ingredients:
- 500-600 g tangerines (the peel)
- 300-400 ml of water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 350 g of crystalline glucose
- 350 ml water
- And a bit of sugar to put the peels in it
PROCEDURE:
Peel the tangerine and put the peel in a container with 300-400 ml of water. Add one teaspoon of salt, put it on fire to boil. Strain the mixture and keep only the peel. This procedure will remove the bitterness from the peel.
Then chop the peel into thin strips. In another bowl mix 350 g of sugar with 350 ml water and boil the mixture until the sugar is melted.
Add the peel and cook at low temperature for half an hour until the peel turns into thick syrup.
Strain the peel carefully with a strainer and wait until it is dry. Then roll it in sugar and put it on the baking paper until it is completely dried.
Store the candied peel in a jar and add it in the cookies, beverages or use them as snacks whenever you want.
