We all know that garlic is very healthy but what we don’t know is that most of the garlic we consume at home or in restaurants is from China.
But if you want to be healthy and consume foods without chemicals than you should definitely avoid garlic from China!
According to the Epoch Times, “64,876 tons of dried, fresh, or chilled garlic were imported from China in 2014… About a third of the garlic in the United States comes from China.”
The bad news is that the most of the garlic in America is actually imported from China. In China the quality control is a major issue. A lot of Chinese farmers are growing garlic with the help of harmful and illegal chemicals.
“An undercover magazine reporter investigating in the area found that many vegetable farmers used phorate and parathion, two pesticides BANNED by the government, to irrigate the crops to save time and effort” claims Epoch Times.
Parathion and phorate belong to the group of Highly Toxic Poisons and there is a good reason for that.
Additional problem in the quality of garlic is the problem with pollution. Namely the soil is toxic and that is why it is a big health concern.
“An official government report in 2014 showed that nearly a fifth of China’s soil is contaminated by heavy metals like cadmium and arsenic as well as unhealthy amounts of pesticides and fertilizers. Severe pollution has tainted all of China’s major rivers with large amounts of industrial chemicals and household waste” –Epoch Times.
How to Notice the Garlic from China
Everyone should try to avoid garlic from China. The garlic contains bleach and many other harmful chemicals which can damage your health.
Next time you need to buy garlic, look out for these signs:
- It should have roots and stems. Chinese cut the roots and stems so the garlic would weigh less when is shipped over the sea.
- Heavy and bulbous garlic is safer. Chinese garlic is smaller and lighter.
- Natural and homegrown garlic from California has better taste than the one from China.
- The safest way to eat healthy garlic is to buy it from some local farmer or grow it yourself. Below there is a very useful video if you want to grow your own garlic.
