Baking soda is simply an amazing ingredient. It can be used for cleaning, cooking, skin and hair care and it does amazing things in every field. It’s readily available and cheap which is why it’s the excellent solution for numerous problems we face in our day-to-day lives. The best thing about it is that it doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals which can have some adverse side-effects and do more harm than good.

Alleviate bee stings
Baking soda is extremely effective against wasp and bee stings and DataPilot from Weather Underground supports this claims. Even though this hasn’t been scientifically proven, DataPilot says that thanks to its alkaline properties baking soda fights off the formic acid present in the wound, and aids in the removal of the foreign pollutant. If you get stung by a bee or a wasp remove the stinger and apply a mixture of baking soda and water on the area.
The site Mercola states that in case of splinters or other foreign objects lodged on your skin’s surface baking soda can be of assistance. Mix some baking soda and water and apply it to the affected area, the baking soda will act as a drawing agent and remove the foreign object.
End to sweating
A mixture from baking soda and water can stop unwanted odors and perspiration. This mixture will keep your armpits dry, just like powder deodorant products do, just without the chemicals.
A soothing treatment for the feet
After a long day of work your feet are probably killing you. Why not make yourself a nice soothing foot bath. You just need to add 3tbsp. of baking soda to your bath and soak the feet in it. Massage them a bit while they’re soaking and enjoy your spa day at home.
Cool off burns
Here comes the summer and we all know what we hate the most about it, sunburns! However, baking soda can really alleviate the pain in such a situation. Add half a cup of baking soda in a lukewarm bath and soak your entire body for a while. Once you’re done don’t use a towel to dry off, let your body air dry. It will be even more soothing.
Heartburn and stomach problems
Baking soda can alleviate heartburns and digestive issues better than any over the counter medicine. Just add 2tsp. of baking soda in a glass of cold water and drink it. But if you experience these issues often, it’s best you consult a doctor before including this habit to your everyday routine.
A shampoo boost
Baking soda is an excellent cleaning agent, but its uses are not limited to the household only. You ca use it for your hair as well. Mix your shampoo with some baking soda and make your hair even shinier. You can use it to clean your combs and brushes as well, just soak them in a mixture of baking soda and water and degrease your hair when you comb it.
