This Is What Happens to Your Body When You Cut Out Bread from Your Diet

February 8, 2019 by Valerie Kirwin

Lots of people are accustomed to consuming large quantities of bread and bread makes up a significant part of their daily menu and diet. What these people aren’t aware about is that when white bread is substituted with whole wheat bread or, even better, when it’s removed from the menu, the entire body changes.

This Is What Happens to Your Body When You Cut Out Bread from Your Diet

  1. You lose weight obtained from storing water in your body

As bread is full of carbohydrates, its frequent consumption leads to water retention in the body. That’s why cutting out carbs from your diet will give you immediate results. Have in mind that this is not real weight loss but rather disposing of accumulated water from your body.

Your body stores carbohydrates in the form of glycogen, which is a type of lactic acid that stimulates water retention. Be cautious that each gram of ingested carbohydrates, accumulates 3 to 4 times more water compared to its weight.

  1. You will stop feeling hungry all the time

When the high content of processed carbohydrates found in white bread start metabolizing in your body is what causes the blood sugar to rise instantly, and then to decline quickly. It’s these changes that send mixed signals to your brain which triggers feelings of thirst and hunger, and this eventually leads to getting fat.

This doesn’t necessarily imply that you need to completely cut off bread from your diet, but you surely need to substitute the empty calories from white bread with whole wheat breads in order to regulate and balance your blood sugar.

  1. You will boost your energy and improve your digestion

For one thing, white bread lacks fibers that are vital for proper intestinal function and digestion like whole wheat and dark breads. As soon as you cut out white bread from your diet and start consuming more whole wheat, your digestive system will significantly improve its function.

On the other hand, carbohydrates are fuel for the brain. So providing your body, including your brain with high quality diet will reflect beneficially on your overall health and wellbeing.
