Before modern hair products, women have used herbs from their gardens, meadows and forests to stay beautiful and healthy.
Whether it came to treating dandruff, gray hair or desire for a new color, they knew the specific plants which could fulfill their specific needs.
Toxin and chemical exposure is inevitable part of the life we are living these days and apparently this life satisfies our basic needs, but it actually overloads our body with harmful substances.
It is important for people to be aware of alternative options for treatment and benefits offered by nature.
This time we will talk about an extraordinary herb which is highly beneficial for your hair – rosemary.
Why rosemary?
Rosemary is a very common and available herb. This plant is green, has leaves with thorns and deep, intense aroma. It has numerous medicinal properties, but now we will write about the benefits it has for hair care:
- Improves the circulation in the scalp, thereby stimulates hair growth.
- Antibacterial properties. Gently cleanses the hair.
- Gives outstanding hair shine.
- Prevents gray hair
- Anti- Dandruff, prevents itching, and other head irritation
How is it used?
As with most herbs, there are many different ways that rosemary can be applied on the hair and scalp. It can be used dried and fresh.
But just like in cooking, it is always best to use it fresh. This is the most common products made from this herb:
Tea made of rosemary
Boil water, add rosemary, leave it for 15-30 minutes, and then strain it.
This tea can be used for rinsing the hair in order to obtain shine, against gray hair, treatment against dandruff and treatment against scalp irritation.
When rinsing, massage the scalp.
Rosemary oil
There are two ways to prepare this oil
The first and quickest way: buy rosemary essential oil, then add a few drops in the oil you usually use (coconut, essential, argan, almond …)
A second option is to make it yourself. Smash fresh rosemary and put in a glass bottle until is filled at least 1/3 of it. Then fill the bottle with oil by your choice (olive, jojoba or any other that do not harden at a lower temperature, such as coconut, for example).
Place the bottle in a dark and cool place for 2-4 weeks. Then this oil can be used against dandruff, against irritation, for stimulating hair growth, massaging the scalp and hair shine.
Rosemary vinegar
Chop fresh rosemary and add it into a jar with malic acid. Proceed in the same way as with the oil, i.e. keep it for 2-4 weeks in a dark and cool place.
After shampooing, rinse your hair with ¼rosemary vinegar and 1 -2 glasses of water. Do not wash. It is used for gentle cleaning, improving the pH balance, for shine and improving the hair quality.
