Water Filters and Their Importance in Our Daily Life

October 1, 2019 by Valerie Kirwin

Water is essential for all living beings, from animals to human beings. But is the available water safe to be drunk, is it healthy? Uncontrollable growth of population, industrial development and human carelessness are some of the reasons for polluted water.

We can survive without food for several weeks, but cut off your water supply and you’ll be dead within days. In simple words, we can say water is life. Water is so vital to our lives and unsurprisingly, we like it clean, pure, and tasty. That’s one reason people spend so much money on water filters that can remove any harmful impurities.

What are Water Filters?

In the past, our ancestors used to purify and enrich water in several different methods. They were using copper or metal vessels for drinking water or storing water so that drinking water will contain enough minerals. Modern technology has enabled us to use pure water purifier that filters the impurities and dirt and lowers water contamination by using a compound procedure, or an organic procedure. These filters cleanse water and make even hard water soft.

How Do They Work?

Water purifiers have traditionally worked in two main processes, physical and chemical filtration. For example, dirty water drips down from a tank at the top, passes through vegetation (which removes nutrients, organic matter and a few sorts of pollutants) before dribbling down through sand, charcoal, and rock layers. The cleaner water is gathered for re-use in another tank at the base and is further cleaned down the chain. Water filters utilize two distinct strategies. Physical filtration, which aims to remove the more significant physical impurities and chemical filtration, which is taking water through a functioning material that removes impurities and dirt chemically as they pass through.

Are Water Filters Necessary?

Yes, drinking water should be pure, healthy and pesticide-free and for that we need water filters.  Local water companies supply citizens with water that could be used for various daily activities like cleaning, cooking, washing, or drinking. But what matters is to which extend is this water purified and safe to be drunk by all age groups. Here water filters play an important part. They help to make any water fully consumable.

Types of Water Filters on The Market

There are many types of water filters available on the market. That’s why it can be challenging to choose the kind of drinking water filter that best suits your needs. All types of water filters have their advantages depending on one’s need. There are physical filters and chemical filters.

  • Activated Carbon Filters

These are also known as pre-filters and are for general use; they help to remove the more massive particles from your water. This sort of filter is utilized to filter soluble gases like chlorine, carbon monoxide, nitrogen, ammonia and natural material like dead algae and leaves.

  • Reverse Osmosis

Reverse Osmosis (RO) framework offers a multi-level filtration of water by combining active carbon and additional molecule filtration. This is popular mainly because it has the ability to remove all sorts of dirt that can be dangerous for your health.

  • Alkaline/Water Ionizers

These filters utilize a process known as electrolysis. Water is passed over electrically charged plates and it’s separated into two streams. One is antacid and the other is acidic. It helps to make hard water soft and to reduce the acidic level of water.

  • UV Filters

UV light (low-level radiation) is passed through the water to eliminate microscopic organisms and different microorganisms by assaulting the DNA in cells. These filters evacuate pesticides by up to 99 percent.  Here, the faucet (tap) water is made to go through a layer (a polymer film) that has small-sized pores and this weeds out minerals and microscopic scale creatures.

  • Infrared Filters

Like alkaline filters, this technology is helping to soften your water. So, if you live in the hard-water area, infrared technology might be what you want. Much like basic filters, infrared uses heat and light to charge the water contrarily, and give it a milder feel.

Water Purifier Service

Water purifiers and water filters are similar, yet a little difference exists in the level of protection. In general, a water filtering system is intended to evacuate waterborne protozoa and bacteria, however not viruses. A water purifier service is structured to fight against all three classes of micro bacteria’s including infections.

Whether purifying drinking water or softening hard water in your home, water filters and purifiers have their use and can be a valuable asset.
