CALCIUM
If you are keeping your calcium intake between 1,000mg and 2000mg a day, you are safe as these are the recommended levels of calcium in your body. However, calcium deficiency is quite common, especially in people who are lactose-intolerant or vegetarians. This condition, also known as hypocalcemia, can easily be tested with a referral from your doctor.
On the other hand, milk and dairy lovers have slim chances of lacking calcium – a cup of milk packs around 290mg of calcium and kale has 150mg per 100 grams, which equals to about ¾ cup of cooked kale.
MAGNESIUM
Although less familiar, magnesium is another vital element for your overall health. This metal is important for sound sleep, nerve and muscle function, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure. It also stimulates the creation of protein, bone and DNA.
